Swag

One popular way to reward brand ambassadors is to load them up with swag. Hats, jerseys, bottle openers, jackets, whatever. I’ll tell you this: No one ever became a brand ambassador, or volunteered at Fashion Week or the Masters, for the free bag of junk. No one is going to complain if you don’t give them a hat with your logo on it. It’s not necessary, so don’t feel obligated to give it.

That said, if you are determined to give your people swag, please follow one basic rule. Don’t be cheap! Nobody needs another travel mug. You don’t have to give everyone a Rolex, but it should be something of value, something of high quality. If you can’t afford that, just forget the swag. You don’t want to work with the guy who’s just there for the jacket anyway.
